Coming to the University of Nebraska Lincoln all the way from Chicago was a big step for me. An even bigger step was coming from an all girls high school with no one else planning on attending the same university as I was. The last thing on my mind when I arrived at UNL was joining a sorority. I wasn’t interested in dealing with an all girls organization for another four years after attending an all girls high school. But as time went on, I felt like something in my college experience was missing. Then, I found Phi Mu.
Phi Mu has given me more than just a group amazing sisters; it’s given me incredible opportunities, from volunteer work, to scholarships, to networking, to a bit of a leg up on a job application process just because of how highly accredited being a part of a Greek organization is. That being said, going Greek was easily the best decision I have ever made. I mean, I know over 100 people who will answer their phone at 3 AM or drop everything they’re doing just to help me out. And I think I speak for every girl in the Greek community at UNL when I say that. It truly is an awesome and unique experience, and I couldn’t picture my life without it.
